We all have our moments of craving comfort food and what better choice than Fettuccine Alfredo. But the problem for some is that an Alfredo sauce can be very heavy and loaded with bad fat. Plus there seems to be a growing number of us that are vegan or can’t have any dairy. I am always looking for ways to make comfort food healthy and these days I have been striving to create recipes/dishes that are dairy-free. Continue reading
I had such a craving last night for Eggs Benedict Continue reading
Margaritas are always fun to make for Cinco de Mayo. To make refreshing drinks to go with my Mid-Eastern Taco, I came up with two different types of drinks.

As you may have noticed, I had the luck to be invited by the Israel Ministry of Tourism to explore the food culture of Israel and through this journey I have been inspired by many Israeli delicacies that I would like to share with you.
I recently got on a kick of making anything with eggs, so as the summer came to a close and the season of fresh basil and ripe tomatoes was coming to a close I decided to create a new breakfast sandwich from one of my favorite italian staples…the Caprese.
So I work for a magazine and I get to meet new people all the time. Great! Love it! In the summer I got the change to meet Serena Palumbo at the Atlantic City Food & Wine Festival. What a petite doll and such a fashionista…I knew we would get along. This dish is an amazing starter especially for this petit bohemian that likes food but doesn’t want a growing waistline. The dish is gourmet and healthy and could even be the beginnings to a detox diet because of the components.
As the summer comes to an end, the seasonal fruit du jour would be the Italian Blood Orange. It is my favorite to eat, drink and cook with. And with that I have concocted a special martini and food pairing that not only pays tribute to the flavor of the month, the blood orange but also to Italy’s most famous director, Federico Fellini.
With the spring rolling around finally (not that we had much of a winter…yeah) it’s time to think about wearing a bikini, going away for Spring Break and more importantly exposing some skin. With that in mind, it’s time to detox for the hellish cuisine of chilly nights, the comfort foods of chicken pot pies, macaroni and cheese and holiday desserts galore.
Calamari [squid] may be unappealing to some but in the Portuguese culture….we love it. It’s part of the seafood family so it’s low in calories, low in fat.
